Hello 2018

I know I’m 20 days late but Happy 2018! Now that I’m 21 days into the new year I think I’m ready to write this post. I’m not one to set news yeas resolutions because I know that I won’t complete them however, I love coming into a new year because it means I get a fresh start. It also means I am able to reflect back on the previous year to see what worked and what didn’t work, and therefore I can decided what lessons I learned in 2017 that I’m either keeping in the new year or ditching! So here it is:
  • Pace yourself: I had many experiences in the previous year that were, emotional and even financial that taught me to pace myself. Living alone over 6000 miles away from home comes with many responsibilities that only I can handle. I tripped and fell a few times but made sure that I learned something from the falls. So in the new year I’m gonna remember to pace myself.
  • Life will turn on you: I’ll say that 2017 is the first time in my life that I ever experienced hardships. Before I would watch others around me go through hardships. Those people include family, friends and even strangers. However, I had never come face to face with my own attacks and obstacles that needed me to stand as an individual, call on God and face them alone. It required me to know and trust myself, to know and trust God, and to know and trust what I believe – and honestly I’m still dealing with those obstacles but have no regrets about the decisions I’ve made. So even going into the new year I stand knowing that life will continue to turn on me but like everything it will pass. I must just be ready. God won’t throw stones at me that I can’t dodge.

“Put on the whole armour of God and fight the warfare of faith… having done all to stand, stand.” Ephesians 6:13

  • Have words of wisdom: I’ve always been someone who accumulates different quotes because they serve as help and a reminder that life is such a gift, and our problems are only great when we give them that power. As I continue to grow in my journey with God I’ve started looking for different scriptures that will do the exact same thing because the truth is as human beings we need constant assurance, motivation and a revival. So you can choose whatever you want, a book of quotes, novels, movie quotes, your bible, anything. With that said I found a scripture for the year that really brought me peace when I first read it it’s from Philippians 4:11 “… I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” KJV
I hope you all have an amazing year, don’t forget to breathe and keep smiling.
